If you live in Windsong Ranch, chances are your children went back to school this week in Prosper ISD. Beginning the new school year can be an exciting but stressful time for both parents and students. Help calm your kid’s fears and your own with these simple tips:
1. Reconnect with Friends
It seems like an obvious idea, but connecting with a familiar friend from the previous school year can go a long way to make your child feel comfortable. Often times, kids lose touch over the summer but you can be ahead of the game by giving the parent’s from last year’s class a call. Refresh these friendships for your kids by scheduling a play date or even setting up a carpool to and from school.
2. Establish a Routine
Switching from a summer schedule to a school schedule can be a really grueling task for everyone, so start slow. Get a dry erase board to put in the kitchen that your children can cross off daily before leaving for school and additionally when they get home. These to do lists can include things such as: pack your lunch and take out the trash. Routines help kids feel comfortable and more in charge, which will make both of your days go smoother.
3. Be Prepared
Being successful in school comes with having the proper tools. Kids can often be forgetful. So, be sure to check with other parents and teachers about the school materials your child will need to be a success in Prosper ISD. It may also be a good idea to include a few fun items such as locker decals and colored pencils to make going back to school more enjoyable.
From all of us at Windsong Ranch, we hope you have a safe and enjoyable school year! Stay tuned to our website for more information about the Prosper ISD approved elementary that will open next August in 2016.
